Freydoon Shahidi, PhD, Mathematician and Mathematics Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
In his home country of Iran, Dr. Shahidi excelled as an engineer. From that work, he gathered how important the field of mathematics was, deciding to focus on it once he came to the United States. In 1969, he earned a Bachelor of Science from Tehran University in Iran before immigrating to America in 1971. Four years later, he had acquired a PhD from Johns Hopkins University. In 1977, Dr. Shahidi began his career as an assistant professor at Purdue University. Remaining in that role until 1982, he was promoted to an associate professor of mathematics, proceeding to excel until 1986 and earn another promotion to a full professor of mathematics. In 2001, as a testament to his success, Dr. Shahidi earned the title of distinguished professor of mathematics from Purdue University.
Outside of his primary ventures, Dr. Shahidi has co-authored the book, “Analytics Properties of Automorphic L-functions.” Further, he has served as an editor to several professional publications, including “The American Journal of Mathematics,” “The Canadian Journal of Mathematics,” and “The Canadian Mathematical Bulletin.” Dr. Shahidi maintains affiliation with the American Mathematics Society and the Iranian Mathematics Society, for which he is an honorable member. As a testament to his success, he is featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders of America.
