Joseph L. Cavinato, PhD, CPM, Business Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in higher education.
Backed by a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from American University, Dr. Cavinato remained at his alma mater through 1967, earning a Master of Business Administration. Shortly thereafter, in 1975, he acquired a PhD from Pennsylvania State University. A certified purchasing manager, he began his career in 1966 as an analyst for Transportation Association America. In the years that followed, Dr. Cavinato gained experience as a distributions systems analyst with Chessie Rail Road and as a distribution manager for Marketing Publications. In 1975, he broached the field of education as an assistant professor at the University of Georgia. Finding a passion for the field, Dr. Cavinato proceeded to take on roles in education at Pennsylvania State University, the Institute for Supply Management, and the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Today, he remains at the latter institution, excelling as a professor emeritus.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Cavinato earned the Outstanding Teaching Award from Pennsylvania State University in 1974, 1979, and 1985. Later, he was presented with the Outstanding MBA Teaching Award in 1992, 1994, and 1995. Moreover, Dr. Cavinato maintains affiliation with a number of prestigious organizations. These include the American Society of Transportation and Logistics, the National Association of Purchasing Management, and the Council of Logistics Management, among others. In his spare time, Dr. Cavinato enjoys gardening, cooking, and traveling. In light of his accomplishments, he is featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in the East, as well as the 25th edition of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry and the 1st edition of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
