Carole Ferrier, PhD, Emeritus Professor at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership.

With a passion for education, Dr. Ferrier desired a career in academia for as long as she could remember, even when she was a student. After earning a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from the University of London in 1968, she attended the University of Auckland in New Zealand. By 1972, she had acquired a PhD, which enabled her to embark on her quest for professional success. In 1973, she was hired as a lecturer in the department of English at the University of Queensland, Brisbane. There, Dr. Ferrier found the success for which she had always longed. For many decades, she excelled as a professor of both English and women’s studies, earning the title of emeritus professor in 2017.

Outside of her educational endeavors, Dr. Ferrier has long-since been an active member of her civic community. She has organized over 15 international academic conferences on women’s and gender studies, as well as a number of conferences for the Australian Motherhood Initiative for Research and Community Involvement. Moreover, Dr. Ferrier is a pioneer of justice, as she has participated in multiple socialist and feminist movements. Likewise, she often aids in climate change awareness. Dr. Ferrier currently serves on the editorial board for Contemporary Women’s Writing, Historical Materialism, Outskirts, JASAL, and was founding editor of Hecate Journal in 1975, and in 1999 also became editor of the Australian Women’s Book Review.

As a testament to her success, Dr. Ferrier has been abundantly awarded throughout her career. In 2015, she earned the title of Peacewoman of the Year from the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, which followed up her earlier title of Distinguished Visiting Scholar from Monash University. In 2002, she earned the Award for Excellence in Research Higher Degree Supervision, from the University of Queensland. Earlier, in 2000, the university awarded her the Equal Opportunity Award, which accompanied her receiving the Emma Miller Award from the Queensland Council of Unions. As a further testament to Dr. Ferrier’s success, she is featured in the 28th edition of Who’s Who in the World.
