Dr. A. Adolphe Edward, Chief Executive Officer at El Centro Regional Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health administration.
Dr. Edward’s grandfather would take him to the various healthcare facilities where he worked overseas. He finished an early advanced degree in healthcare at the age of 16. When he came to the United States, he realized the great opportunities he was afforded by his parents’ sacrifices and did his best to excel. He earned a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Wichita State University in 1986. He then received a Master of Business Administration in managerial economics from Florida Metropolitan University in 1989. Continuing with his schooling, Dr. Edward earned a Master of Health Administration from Trinity University in 2000, a Master of Arts in international studies from Air University in 2006, a Doctor of Health Administration from the Medical College of South Carolina in 2007 and a Master of Science in project management from Villanova University in 2008.
Dr. Edward joined the Air Force in 1990 and remained until he retired in 2012. During his service, he held the positions of officer, acting health attaché, chief of the Medical Support Division, chief executive officer of a hospital, and chief operating officer of Healthcare Operations. Once retired from the Air Force, Dr. Edward joined Dell Incorporated, USA, SEHA, UAE from 2012 to 2013 as a chief quality officer and a chief operating officer. From 2014 to 2016, he was the director of international medical operations for Honeywell Technology Solutions and market chief executive officer for Kindred Healthcare. Since 2016, he has held the positions of chief executive officer for the University of California San Diego and chief executive officer for El Centro Regional Medical Center.
As a testament to his success, Dr, Edward received the Defense Superior of Service Medal, which is only reserved for high-ranking officials, from the Department of Defense, a Bronze Star for his service. He also received Young Healthcare Administrator of the Year and William Newcomers Healthcare Executive of the Year. Dr. Edward devoted time to his community by being a member of Habitat for Humanity, the Denver District Board on Urban Development, a board member of the American Lung Association, and a health commissioner for the Imperial County Chair Public Policy Committee.
