She went on to earn a Master’s in Education from Long Island University two years later. After gaining experience as a pre-school teacher for four years, Ms. Martinez was hired as a teacher by the Department of Education, a role in which she excelled for 25 years. From 1985 until 2010, she additionally worked as a teacher with Gladexecutive.
Outside of her primary endeavors, Ms. Martinez has been active with the Latinos Unidos. She has additionally taught numerous adult sewing classes, as well as acted as a private Spanish teacher. Further, she has had success as an inventor. Though her inventions were not made available to the public, she is still proud of her work. In light of her accomplishments, she has been highly lauded. From 1994 until 1996, she was featured in Who’s Who of American Inventors. She additionally earned the titles of Ms. Mercy College and Ms. Latino Unidos. More recently, in 2006, she was listed among the Outstanding American Teachers.
Looking back on her illustrious career, Ms. Martinez attributes her success to her mother and daughter, who have been her primary source of strength and inspiration for as long as she can remember. She recalls her proudest moments as a teacher to have been those when former students would return and speak highly of their time in her class. In the future, Ms. Martinez would love to make her inventions available to the public.
