Michael L. Ash, EdD, President at Southeastern Community College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.

Dr. Ash began his journey to professional success at Oral Roberts University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in education in 1974. In the following years, he built up his resume by earning a Master’s in counseling from the University of Tulsa and, later, a Doctor of Education in high education administration from George Washington University. He began his career at Regent University, acting as an adjunct professor in the School of Psychology and Counseling and the director of student services. In 2003, he relocated to State Fair Community College. There, Dr. Ash served as an adjunct professor and the vice president for student services, as well as the executive assistant to the president for resource development and external affairs from 2010 until 2012. Currently, Dr. Ash is overseeing operations as the president of Southern Community College.

Dr. Ash has found additional success by sharing his knowledge with those who are interested in his field as a presenter at multiple professional conferences and gatherings. An active member of his industry, he maintains affiliation with many organizations, including the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the International Association of College Law Enforcement and the American Counselor Association, among others. In light of his accomplishments, Dr. Ash has been abundantly awarded. Some recent additions to his collection of honors are the Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction from Phi Theta Kappa and the National Pacesetter Award from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. Looking toward the future, Dr. Ash does not see himself retiring anytime soon, as he enjoys his work and knows there is plenty more to be done in his position.
