Jack Christopher Blanton, PhD, Academic Administrator and Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
A graduate of Berea College, Dr. Blanton earned a Bachelor of Arts before enrolling at the University of Tennessee, where he acquired a Master’s. In 1982, he concluded his educational pursuits with a PhD from the University of Kentucky. Prior to becoming a respected individual in the academic field, he established himself as a journalist with a position at the Knoxville Journal. In the following years, he worked as a budget analyst and as the state budget director for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. From 1972 until 1975, he became familiar with the academic administration sector as the associate director of the Tennessee Higher Education Committee, going on to work as the vice-chancellor of business and finance for the State Board Regents in Nashville. Prior to retiring in 2013, Dr. Blanton served as the vice-chancellor of administration at the University of Kentucky.
As an active member of his industry, Dr. Blanton maintains affiliation with many established organizations. These include, but are not limited to, the Lexington Chambers of Commerce, the National Association of State University and Land Grant Colleges, and the Finance Executives Institute. In light of his notable accomplishments, he had earned multiple awards. In 2015, Berea College honored him as the Outstanding Alumni of the Year. Earlier, in 1978, he was presented with the Arkansas Traveler Award from the Governor’s Office. As a further testament to his success, he is featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America and the 21st edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
