Wendy Bernhard, Retired American Baptist of International Ministries at the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
Ms. Bernhard’s faith in Jesus Christ is what brought her to her current profession. She wanted to share the Christian lifestyle, and how it relates to daily life, with people in other countries. In 1969, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in French education from Arizona State University. After spending several years as an instructor of French and English at the North Vegas Christian School, she decided to further her education at Fuller Theological Seminary. There, she acquired a Master of Divinity and, later, a Master of Theology in missiology. With her newfound qualifications, Ms. Bernhard took on the role of an adult educator for the Democratic Republic of the Congo with the American Baptist International Ministries. She remained in that position until her retirement in 2013, though she did go on to become a part-time instructor and tutor at Great Basin College. She upholds that role today, continuing to help students in need.
An honoree by Outstanding Young Women in America, Ms. Bernhard attributes her success to the grace of God, as well as excellent health and the support of her friends and family. She maintains affiliation with the Daughters of the American Revolution. Civically, Ms. Bernhard has volunteered with the California Trail Interpretive Center and The Terrace at Ruby View Senior Citizens Center. Looking forward, she hopes to relocate to a retirement community in Southern California.
