Dr. Govind began his journey to professional success at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India. There, he earned a Bachelor of Technology in 1974. By 1977, he had acquired a Master of Science in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. One year later, he furthered his education once more by earning a PhD in chemical engineering, also from Carnegie Mellon University. Throughout his years in university, Dr. Govind discovered that he is not only a great academic but a great businessman. This inspired him to pursue every opportunity for advancement that came his way, all of which proved to be successful in the long run.
In 1979, after serving as the director for the iCAPS Center at Carnegie Mellon University, Dr. Govind began working with the Polaroid Corporation. His roles there consisted of a senior scientist and a senior engineer, though he only remained with the corporation for one year. In 1979, he took on the first of his long-lasting positions, which was that of a consultant with PRD Tech, Inc., where he would later be promoted to president. That same year, he began working as a professor of chemical engineering at the University of Cincinnati. In 2018, Dr. Govind ventured out once more as a businessman, co-founding the company NextGen Septic LLC. He continues to demonstrate success in each of these roles today.
As an established academic, Dr. Govind has found additional success by publishing over 100 peer-reviewed papers in journals. He has also presented at over 30 national and international conferences. He considers these moments to be some of his greatest achievements, alongside his entrepreneurial experiences. To remain aware of changes in his fields, he maintains affiliation with the American Association of Chemical Engineers, the American Chemical Society, and the Water Environment Federation. In the future, Dr. Govind plans on growing his company and potentially selling it later in life. He is additionally interested in writing textbooks from the application perspective as opposed to the theoretical base.
