While studying toward her undergraduate degree, Ms. Enrriques discovered teaching and sought to become an educator. Receiving a Bachelor of Science in education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 1985, she quickly realized her aptitude for teaching and subsequently taught for the following two decades. Among her vocational endeavors, she taught as a first-grade teacher and reading recovery teacher at the Odem-Edroy Independent School District in Texas, as well as at the Robstown Independent School District in Texas. During those years, she conducted a specialized reading program that propelled her into her love of reading. Soon thereafter, she realized her passion for teaching children how to read and succeed in their lives.
Later on in her career, Ms. Enrriques began educating fellow teachers on how to teach their students more efficiently, and she has become a valuable asset to educators across the State of Texas. She cites these experiences as career highlights and notes that it fills her with a sense of joy to help other teachers and leave the classroom with a positive impact on the students.
Ms. Enrriques opines that the job of a teacher is difficult, yet extremely rewarding. She advises future educators to remain flexible and willing to learn. Looking toward the future, she intends to continue working for as long as she is able, emphasizing that her profession genuinely makes her happy.
