Barbara Levy, Music Educator at Have Woodwinds Will Travel, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.
Ms. Levy became involved in her profession because when she was in the 5th grade she played the clarinet and in the 8th grade, began playing the oboe. Her passion for music stayed with her all throughout high school, and she decided to pursue a career in the field. In 1973, she received a MusB from the Conservatory of Music at Cincinnati College. She commenced her career as a musician with the U.S. Navy in 1973, and remained in this role until 1993. Since then, she has utilized her skills and talents as a private teacher and performer. She is the proud owner and CEO of Have Woodwinds Will Travel, a company focused on high woodwinds performance instruction.
Throughout all of her professional endeavors, Ms. Levy recalls the time she auditioned for and landed a spot in the United States Armed Forces Bicentennial Band. This was early on in her time with the Navy and she toured the entire country with the band. Her time with the Navy resulted in such accolades as a Decorated Good Conduct Joint Service Commendation and National Defense Medal. Throughout her career, she has maintained professional affiliation with the American Federation of Musicians, the International Clarinet Association, the National Flute Association, the International Double Reed Society and the Maitland Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Levy remains excited to continue teaching and performing on several different instruments including flute, oboe, clarinet and saxophone.
