She previously served as an assistant professor from 2014 to 2020 and instructor from 2013 to 2014. In addition to her teaching, Dr. Wyss has served as a clinical documentation integrity specialist at the Oregon Health and Science University since 2016. She commenced her medical career in 1994 as a research associate at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute’s Laboratory of Tumor and Molecular Immunology. In the following years between 1994 and 2002, she served in various research-related roles with the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Epitope, Inc., Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, and Oregon Medical Laser Center. Taking a hiatus from direct research, Dr. Wyss served as a cardiac nurse at the Providence St. Vincent Medical Center from 2002 to 2007, but, in 2007, she began working as the senior research assistant for the Division of Infectious Diseases Department of Medicine. From 2008 to 2011, Dr. Wyss joined Providence Milwaukee Hospital as an assistant nurse manager and charge nurse. In 2011, she became a clinical documentation specialist nurse at Providence Health & Services, where she remained until 2016.

Dr. Wyss attributes her success to a love for her work, as well as to the connections she has made with both students and faculty. From these experiences, she hopes to continue on her teaching path and inspire up and coming nurses and health professionals. Dr. Wyss currently holds active membership with Quality and Safety Education for Nurses, Health, Wellness & Society, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the Oregon Nurses Association, and the Western Institute of Nursing. An avid writer and reviewer in the field, she is involved with the Academic Network for Mental Health, the Art Committee, the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, and the Search and Screen Committee, all of which are within the Portland School of Nursing.
