Thaddeus Starling, Teacher and Coach at Pinellas County Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in physical education and science.
When Mr. Starling was in college, he saw that education was reverting backward and he wanted to make sure children graduated college. He is very passionate about the wellbeing of his students. His dad was a railroad worker and had him working since he was three. His father taught him the value of work saying “If a man works, he won’t steal,” his father made sure he got up in the morning, when he got up, Mr. Starling got up. Mr. Starling earned a Bachelor of Science from Florida A&M University in 1976.
As a teacher and football coach, he has encouraged and helped many people find success and happiness in life. After over 42 years of teaching all ages, he successfully retired. Mr. Starling’s greatest achievement was getting his football players in college to get a degree. He was able to push 500 students/football players to graduate. Mr. Starling started out at Jefferson High School, where he taught science, physical education, driver’s education, and wellness. From there he joined Pinellas County Schools, where he was a teacher and football coach until he retired in 2019. As a testament to his success, Mr. Starling was nominated for an Outstanding Teacher Award.
