Gordon J. Christensen, DDS, MSD, PhD, Chief Executive Officer at Gordon J. Christensen Practical Clinical Courses, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in dentistry.
Dr. Christensen became involved in his profession because dental and medical were biological and physical in science and he felt that both fields were lacking in social science so, that was what took him to that. He had counseled people with Bulimia and athletic injuries. He became involved as a Prosthodontist because it took people back to where they were, people who were in car wrecks, had cancer, cleft palates, and amputations. He believed the psychology blended well with it, especially if they were to be in a relationship or get married as well as with their family. Dr. Christensen earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Southern California in 1960. He then received a Master of Science in Dentistry from the University of Washington in 1963. In 1972, he received a Doctor of Philosophy from Denver University in 1972. In 1968, Dr. Christensen became a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. During the years of 1960 to 1963, he was a captain for the U.S. Army.
Dr. Christensen is the chief executive officer of two major organizations in dentistry. For many years, thousands of dental staff and dentists have participated in PCC courses and viewed PCC videos. Dr. Christensen has presented over 45,000 hours of continuing education throughout the world and has published hundreds of articles or books. Dr. Christensen began his career as an assistant professor with the University of Washington in 1962, remaining until 1965. He then went to the University of Kentucky in 1965 as an associate professor until 1968. Going back west, Dr. Christensen became a professor and associate dean for the University of Colorado-Denver from 1968 until 1976. From 1976 to 1987, he took on the role of co-director of Clinical Research Associates. In 1976, he also became a prosthodontist for his company, Gordon J. Christensen Professional Corporation, and continues in that practice to this day. He is currently a chief executive officer for Gordon J. Christensen Practical Clinical Courses since 1981 and for CR Foundation Associates since 1987.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Christensen has received myriad awards including but not limited to being named Top 100 Doctors in the World in 2019, receiving the Fauchard Gold Medal Award in 1992, the International Achievement Award from Alpha Omega in 1991, the Utah Dental Award in 1991 and an Award for service to the dental profession from Delta Sigma Delta in 1990. He was also inducted as a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He has been inducted as a member of numerous esteemed organizations like the Academy of Dentistry International, The American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the American College of Prosthodontists to name a few. Dr. Christensen was listed in the 24th edition of Who’s Who in the West.
