Ronald Melicher, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in corporate finance, investment banking and entrepreneurial finance.
Dr. Melicher was inspired to go into his profession by a grade-school teacher and his college mentor, Professor Merle Welshans. After earning a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis in 1963, he continued his academic pursuits at the institution to receive an MBA and DBA in 1965 and 1968, respectively. After earning his undergraduate degree, he was offered a National Defense Education Act fellowship which allowed him to pursue his advanced degrees. With his love of education, Dr. Melicher pursued the field, accepting his first position with the University of Colorado, Boulder as an assistant professor of finance. He stayed with the institution for the entirety of his career, advancing to positions of associate professor, chairman of the finance division, MBA/MS Program Director and full professor. In 2014, he retired and was honored as professor emeritus of finance at the institution.
Throughout all of his endeavors, Dr. Melicher is most proud of all the recognition he has received, especially being selected as a University of Colorado Presidents Teaching Scholar. Otherr accolades he considers highlights are: being the first recipient of the W.H. Baughn Distinguished Scholar Endowment Award, his inclusion to the Affton High School Hall of Fame, the MBA/MS Association Teaching Award, the Boulder Faculty Assembly Teaching Award and the Graduate Business Teaching Award among others. In 1987, Dr. Melicher also received the News Center 4 TV Teaching Award. Throughout his career, he has maintained affiliation with such institutions as the Financial Management Association, the American Finance Association, the Western Finance Association, the Eastern Finance Association, the Midwest Finance Association, Alpha Kappa Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma.
