Elaine Rosen, Professor of Physical Therapy at Hunter College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
Dr. Rosen began her career as a physical therapy consultant for numerous organizations from 1977 to 1983, as well as an adjunct lecturer for Hunter College in New York, New York. She served the institution as an assistant professor until 1987, rising to the rank of an associate professor. Since 2010, she has held the designation of a full professor in the department of physical therapy at Hunter College. In 1982, she became a physical therapist and partner with Queens Physical Therapy Associates in Forest Hills, New York, where she remained for 35 years. Throughout her career, Dr. Rosen has shared her knowledge as an educator at a number of institutions, including as an adjunct associate professor of physical therapy at Touro College in 1997 and New York University in 1998. Since 2017, she has contributed her expertise as a clinic director for the Motion Physical Therapy Group at Queens.
In preparation for her professional pursuits, Dr. Rosen attended Hunter College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy in 1973. She continued her academic efforts at Long Island University with a Master of Science in work physiology in 1977, and later returned to her education at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, concluding her studies with a DHSc in orthopedics in 1998. Dr. Rosen is a board-certified orthopedic specialist and a certified physical therapist by the American Physical Therapy Association and is additionally a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Physical Therapists.
Dr. Rosen has contributed to numerous committees throughout her career and is currently a member of the School of Health Science Alumni Task Force, the American Physical Therapy Association and the Physical Therapy Search Committee, the latter of which she serves as the co-chair. She has found success through her creative works, working as a manuscript reviewer for the British Journal of Sports Medicine since 2002 and the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy since 1997. She is also the co-author of multiple editions of “Musculoskeletal Examination” from 1996 to 2015 and co-edited “Neuromuscular Essentials: Applying the Preferred Physical Therapy Practice Patterns” in 2008. Dr. Rosen authored myriad articles in professional journals and has worked as a researcher on numerous abstracts.
Throughout her career, Dr. Rosen has maintained affiliation with numerous organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a founding member of the New York Orthopedic Physical Therapy Study Group for 20 years and is a life fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy, among many more. She has been recognized for her achievements with myriad awards and accolades, including a Distinguished Alumni Award from Hunter College in 2004 and a James A. Gould Award for Excellence in Teaching Orthopedic Physical Therapy from the Orthopaedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association in 2003. As a further testament to her success and experience, Dr. Rosen has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who’s Who of American Women.
