Dr. Herf first pursued an education at the University of Wisconsin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1969. He continued his studies at the State University of New York, completing a Master of Arts in 1971. Dr. Herf then joined Brandeis University, earning a PhD in 1981.
Throughout his career, Dr. Herf has been recognized for his contributions, including having been nominated for the Jabuti Prize. For his written works, he was awarded the George Louis Beer Prize the Fraenkel Prize in Contemporary History and the American Jewish Book Award for Works on the Holocaust. Dr. Herf has also been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who in America.
