Lawrence M. Fishman, MD, FACP, Professor Emeritus of the University of Miami School of Medicine, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements and leadership in academia.

With more than 45 years of professional experience, Dr. Fishman has been recognized as professor emeritus of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine since 2008. Prior to his retirement, he held a number of positions with the school, including a professor from 1975 to 2008, associate professor from 1972 to 1975 and assistant professor from 1967 to 1972. Earlier in his career, Dr. Fishman was a fellow of diabetes and endocrinology fat the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 1965 to 1967 and a clinical associate of endocrinology with the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health from 1962 to 1965.

Dr. Fishman first pursued an education at Harvard College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in 1955. He continued his studies at Harvard University, earning an MD in 1960. He then joined Peter Bent Brigham Hospital for an internship from 1960 to 1961 and an assistant residency in medicine from 1961 to 1962. Dr. Fishman is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine.

A respected voice in his areas of interest, Dr. Fishman has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. A fellow of the American College of Physicians, he is a member of the American Federation of Clinical Research, the Endocrine Society and the Southern Society of Clinical Investigation. He has also been active with Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi and Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Fishman has contributed articles to professional journals and chapters to books.

Throughout his career, Dr. Fishman has been recognized for his contributions. He has received a number of awards and accolades for his achievements. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
