George Morgan, PhD, Professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in finance.
With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Morgan has been a Professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute since 1995 and finance professor since 1989. Prior to obtaining his current position, he held a number of other positions with the school, including banking professor from 1989 to 1995 and associate professor from 1984 to 1989. Earlier in his career, he was an assistant professor at the University of Texas from 1979 to 1984 and a senior financial economist with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency from 1978 to 1979.
Dr. Morgan first pursued an education with Georgetown University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in mathematics in 1973. He then joined the University of North Carolina, completing a Master of Science in statistics in 1975. He continued his studies with the school, earning a PhD in finance in 1977. He is a member of the American Economic Association, the American Finance Association, the American Statistical Association, the Southern Finance Association, the Financial Management Association and Beta Gamma Sigma.
