Barbara L. Godbold, EdD, Secondary School Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements and leadership in English.
Dr. Godbold became a teacher because she wanted to instill her joy of learning into younger generations. She attended Montclair State University for her undergraduate studies, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in social studies, alongside minors in English and education. She remained there until 1967 when she earned a master’s in social studies with a concentration in Russian history. In 1983, she furthered her education again by acquiring an EdD in anthropology from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Dr. Godbold has since been certified to teach social studies and English for secondary school. Furthermore, she is additionally certified in supervision and principal.
Dr. Godbold began teaching in 1964 at the Lake Riviera Intermediate School in Brick, New Jersey. She proceeded to relocate to the Brick Township High School in 1976, where she stayed until 1980. During this time, she simultaneously taught anthropology at the Ocean County College in Toms River, New Jersey. Her time in that role ended when she relocated to Brick Memorial High School in 1982. Dr. Godbold demonstrated consistent success in her classrooms by teaching children all about the wonders of the English language and literature until 2013.
In light of her accomplishments, Dr. Godbold was previously named as the Brick Township District Teacher of the Year and the Ocean County Teacher of the Year. As a further testament to her success, she is featured in several editions of Who’s Who in American Education, as well as the 54th edition of Who’s Who in America and the 25th edition of Who’s Who in the East. In 2019, Dr. Godbold became a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
