John M. McGregor, MD, Associate Professor at the Ohio State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements and leadership in neurological surgery.

Dr. McGregor is a nationally-recognized neurosurgeon and medical educator, joining the Department of Neurosurgery at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in 1991 after completing a residency. He also serves as an associate professor of clinical neurosurgery in the Departments of Neurosurgery, Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Otolaryngology. Earning an MD from the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa, Dr. McGregor specializes in the surgical management of brain tumor patients associated with one of the cerebral spinal pathologies such as hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation and intracranial hypertension.

Dr. McGregor’s exemplary work in the medical field has garnered him a fellowship with the American College of Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. The director of the neurosurgery gamma knife radiosurgery program, he was also rated in the Top 10% of Physicians in the Nation of Patient Satisfaction and was honored as a Best Doctor in America in 2019. His interest in the field stems from the ability to learn on a day-to-day basis, expanding his expertise so that he can sufficiently provide care and comfort to those living with conditions. Neurology, in particular, became the most interesting part of the healthcare journey for Dr. McGregor, challenging him, yet rewarding him for the positive impact he has made on the field.

Dr. McGregor, who has contributed to roughly 50 publications as well as five book chapters, was also active as the past president of the Ohio State Neurosurgical Society. He currently co-chairs the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center neurosciences institute quality management committee. Likewise, Dr. McGregor aids the Children’s International Summer Villages, an independent nonprofit organization that sponsors multi-cultural summer camps and exchanges for teenagers and adolescents.
