Joseph T. Hickman, Former Principal of Montgomery County Middle School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements and leadership in administration.
With more than 35 years of professional experience, Mr. Hickman was the principal of Montgomery County Middle School from 1970 to 2001. In addition to his primary role, he was an adjunct professor of education at George Washington University from 2001 to 2005. Mr. Hickman has also served as board chair for the Commission on Children and Youth and the Montgomery County Teachers Federal Credit Union, and he was the insurance and health committee chair, the president and a board member of the Montgomery County Retired Educators Association.
Mr. Hickman first pursued an education at Wittenberg University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts. He continued his studies at George Washington University, earning a Master of Arts. Throughout his career, Mr. Hickman has been recognized for his contributions. The Montgomery County Council gave him an Excellence in Leadership Award, as did the Maryland State Senate, and the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services gave him a Certificate of Recognition. Montgomery County Public Schools also gave him the Monetary Award and his school earned the Federal Government Blue Ribbon.
