Cynthia S. Anglin, Retired Music Education Specialist at Trinity Baptist Church, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements and leadership in elementary education.
Feeling the Lord leading her more towards the direction of church music, Ms. Anglin has been a church pianist at Trinity Baptist Church in Madison, Alabama, since 1994, having also been a retired music education specialist of Athens City Schools since 2017. She began her teaching career as a music education specialist at Eastway and Wood Elementary Schools in Columbus, Georgia, in 1984, remaining in this position for one year before becoming a graduate teaching assistant at Kansas State University in Manhattan from 1986 to 1987. She then served as a music education specialist at Athens Elementary School from 1988 to 1996, James L. Cowart Elementary School from 1996 to 2002, Brookhill Elementary School from 1989 to 2013 and Athens Intermediate School from 2001 to 2017. She was also an adjunct music professor at Athens State University from 1988 to 1993. In preparation for her career, Ms. Anglin completed summer classes at John C. Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Alabama, in 1981. She pursued a formal education at the University of North Alabama in Florence, earning a Bachelor of Education in music education in 1984. She then attended Kansas State University, where she attained a Master of Music in 1987, and was certified as a Master Level Orff Schulwerkâ teacher in 1993 and a Level I World Music Drummingâ teacher in 2009.
A personal achievement for Ms. Anglin throughout her career that made her most proud was being recognized by her peers a number of times, which was very humbling. However, after retiring and even prior to retiring, she also enjoyed seeing students who grew up that were once in her classroom through the years and them telling her how much she and her class meant to them. Recognized in July 2019 for 25 Years of Service as a pianist at Trinity Baptist Church, she maintains involvement with numerous organizations related to her field. A recipient of myriad accolades and honors, Ms. Anglin notably received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Likewise, she was selected for inclusion in the 23rd and 25th editions of Who’s Who of American Women.
