Finding comfort in working with children with special needs, Dr. Clancy has been a resource room educator with the Lacey Township School District in New Jersey since 1991. Prior to this tenure, she taught at an orthopedic school in South Carolina from 1987 to 1991. In preparation of her career, Dr. Clancy pursued a formal education at Columbia College in New York, earning a Bachelor of Education. She then attended the University of South Carolina, where she received a Master of Education, summa cum laude. She went on to attain a PhD in educational research, summa cum laude, from Capella University in Minneapolis.
A member of the Lacey Parent Teacher Association, Dr. Clancy maintains involvement with numerous organizations related to her field. She is affiliated with the Alumni Associations of the University of South Carolina, Columbia College, and Capella University. Moving forward, Dr. Clancy wants to retire from the Lacey School District within the next four or five years and become an adjunct professor for George Mason University in Fairfax County, Virginia. Any time she has been able to make a difference in a child’s life has been a highlight. Seeing some of her students grow up and become successful, despite their handicaps, has also been a fulfilling part of her career.
