Wanting to motivate children to enjoy mathematics, Dr. Bazik has been an adjunct professor of mathematics education at National Louis University in Lisle, Illinois, since 2012, previously serving the university as an associate professor from 2005 to 2012. She began her career as a mathematics teacher at Northlawn Junior High School in Steator, Illinois, in 1969, remaining in this position for five years before instructing mathematics education at Southern Illinois University from 1974 to 1976. An assistant professor of mathematics at Concordia University from 1976 to 1978 and Illinois State University from 1978 to 1985, she joined Eastern Illinois University as an associate professor of mathematics from 1985 to 1988. Following this, Dr. Bazik was a mathematics specialist and coordinator with Oak Park Public Schools for one year and a mathematics coordinator at Hinsdale School District 181 from 1989 to 2005.
Having served in many other roles throughout her career, Dr. Bazik pursued a formal education at Illinois State University, earning a Bachelor of Education in 1969. Spending a summer at Hamilton College in 1971, she then received a Master of Education at the University of Illinois in 1972 and completed postgraduate coursework at her alma mater. She spent another summer at Augustana College in 1973, and went on to attain a PhD at Southern Illinois University in 1976. In 1980, Dr. Bazik became certified in general administration. A skilled writer in her field, she served as a board and committee member for the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Streator and maintains involvement with numerous organizations. Furthermore, she is the recipient of myriad honors and accolades throughout her career.
