Rose Chew, Retired Physical Education Educator at Grambling State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership.

Dr. Chew began her career pursuits as a teacher for Jefferson City Public Schools in Missouri, where she remained from 1967 to 1971. She transitioned to the Lincoln University of Missouri, serving as an instructor for five years before becoming an assistant professor and the director of enrichment at Alcorn State University. In 1985, Dr. Chew flourished as an assistant professor at Grambling State University, and she returned to Alcorn State University as an associate professor from 1988 to 1992. Subsequently, she accepted a position as an associate professor and the chairperson of physical education at Paul Quinn College, where she worked for more than 15 years. In 2011, she brought her experience and knowledge back to Grambling State University, and contributed her expertise to the institution for eight years, working in sports and leisure studies until her retirement in May 2019.

In preparation for her career, Dr. Chew attended Grambling State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1966. She continued her studies at Lincoln University of Missouri, receiving a Master of Education in 1972 before completing further postgraduate coursework. Dr. Chew concluded her education at Texas Women’s University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1982. In 1990, she became a certified leisure professor. In addition to her primary pursuits, she maintained her involvement with numerous professional organizations, including the Alliance for Health, AAHPERD, SHAPE and the National Recreation and Parks Association, for which she served on the board of directors from 1988 to 1990. She considers the highlight of her career to be watching students develop from having low motivation into becoming high achievers. As a testament to her success and experience, Dr. Chew has been selected for inclusion in the 26th edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and the 13th edition of Who’s Who in the World.
