Cathy Mabry, Retired Teacher at DeKalb County School Systems, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in teaching.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, Ms. Mabry has been retired since 2010, having been a teacher with DeKalb County School Systems since 1984. Prior to obtaining this role, she was a kindergarten paraprofessional with the district from 1979 to 1981, and an intermediate clerk with the Superior Court of DeKalb County from 1978 to 1981. From 1974 to 1978, she was a manager trainee of sales with Sears Roebuck and Company, and from 1975 to 1976 and again from 1979 to 1984 she was with Rich’s. Earlier in her career, she was on the charge account services staff at C&S National Bank from 1974 to 1975.

Ms. Mabry first pursued an education with the University of Georgia, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and psychology in 1975. She later continued her studies with Oglethorpe University, completing a Master of Arts in elementary education in 1990. She then joined Georgia State University, earning a Master of Arts in administration and supervision education in 1997. She has been certified in education and early childhood education in the state of Georgia, and she holds a bible college and studies diploma from the Faith Bible Institute.

A respected voice in her areas of interest, Ms. Mabry has been affiliated with a number of community organizations. She is a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., and the National Geographic Society. She has also been active with the DeKalb Association of Educators and Zeta Phi Beta. The former secretary of the Lithonia Civic League, Inc., she served as board chair of the DeKalb Economic Opportunity Authority.

Throughout her career, Ms. Mabry has been recognized for her contributions, including having been named Teacher of the Year by DeKalb County Schools. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who of American Women.
