Sarah Pedruzzi, Teacher at West Elk Junior/Senior High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in public education and theater.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Pedruzzi attended Benedictine University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history in 1967. For four years, she garnered experience through the Peace Corps as an English teacher in Brazil. After returning to the United States, she continued to contribute her expertise as a teacher for more than 40 years, briefly serving as a reservations clerk at Best Western International in 2001 and working as an actress and costumer for the Wichita Center for the Arts from 2004 to 2011. Ms. Pedruzzi sought to expand her skillset and returned to her academic pursuits at Wichita State University, where she received a master’s degree in communications in 1982. Through her master’s degree program, she holds a certification in theater, speech, and drama. Since 1997, she has volunteered as an usher and costumer for the Music Theater of Wichita.
From 2010 to 2019, Ms. Pedruzzi worked as a substitute teacher for various school districts, and in 2019, she accepted a position as a Spanish teacher at the West Elk Junior/Senior High School. Growing up in post-World War II America, she always felt blessed by her circumstances and was compelled to give back. After returning from her service in the Peace Corps, she decided she wanted to work with kids, in order to positively impact their futures. She maintains memberships to both the ACTSL and the ADTA, and she attributes her success to her persistence. For her accomplishments and service, Ms. Pedruzzi has been recognized with a Mary Jane Teal Award for outstanding people in theater in Wichita. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and gardening.
