Grace M. Mills, Higher Education Professional, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of law librarianship.
While studying at Wellesley College, Ms. Mills held several internships in 1978 and again in 1979 with CBS as well as Simon and Schuster and found she greatly enjoyed the field of publishing. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1980 and knew that she wanted to advance within the publishing industry. In order to do so, Ms. Mills earned a JD from Columbia University in 1983, became a legal editor for Princess Hall in Paramus, New Jersey, in 1983, and would hold this role until 1998. Upon realizing she excelled as a researcher, Ms. Mills wanted to pursue this path and earned a MLS from Queens College in 1990. She then worked as a reference librarian for the City University of New York School of Law from 1990 to 1994, a senior reference librarian at Boalt Hall within the University of California Berkeley from 1994 to 1997, and an assistant law librarian at North Carolina Central University School of Law from 1997 to 1999. Furthermore, Ms. Mills worked as a reference librarian for the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District from 2000 to 2002, director of the Florida A&M University College of Law Library from 2002 to 2008, and law librarian at Hamline University from 2008 until her retirement in 2012.
Ms. Mills considers the highlight of her career to be the time she spent as the director of the Florida A&M University College of Law Library. She helped create the law library which was the first public law school in central Florida. As a testament to her success, Ms. Mills has been afforded membership to American Association of Law Libraries and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., among other organizations. In recognition of her excellence, Ms. Mills was a recipient of the Charles Hamilton Hughes Award from Columbia University School Law in 1983 and has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America.
