Charles Bryant Teas, Kinesiology Professor at Del Mar College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of physical education.
Mr. Teas’ first job was as an associate physical director at the YMCA in Longview, Texas. He enjoyed the work he did in this position, which encouraged him to make a career in the field. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University in 1962, which he followed with a master’s in education from Sam Houston State University in 1968. As a National Champion Diver, he has always been physically fit. It was natural for him to find a passion for encouraging others to be active. After he left the YMCA, Mr. Teas took on a position as a gymnastic specialist in the San Angelo Independent School District from 1964 until 1967. In this role, he taught approximately 3,000 students a year. In 1968, he transitioned to Del Mar College, where he held the title of kinesiology and physical education professor until he retired in 1991.
Mr. Teas is a member of the United States Gymnastics Federation, the Gymnastics Association of Texas, and the American Alliance of Health, among several other professional organizations. Despite his age of 81, he is still swimming and diving in state and national meets. He is proud of his numerous professional accomplishments. However, when he looks back at his career, the most rewarding moment was going to the Naval Academy and diving at the National Master’s Meet in 2019. Incredibly, he came home with three gold medals.
