Monica Boccieri, Former Principal of Charles E. Bennett Elementary School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Administration.

With more than 45 years of professional experience, Ms. Boccieri was the principal of C.E. Bennett Elementary School from 1996 until her retirement in 2009. Prior to obtaining this role, she contributed as an assistant principal for the Clay County School District from 1992 to 1996, having been the community relations coordinator since 1989. From 1985 to 1989, she was a teacher with Green Cove Springs Elementary School, and from 1983 to 1985 she was an administrative assistant with Moore Enterprises. Earlier in her career, she taught at Montclair Elementary School from 1977 to 1983, having previously worked with Ohio Schools from 1963 to 1967.

Ms. Boccieri was inspired to pursue a career in the field from an early age, having come up in an era when career options were limited for women. Initially intending to become a lawyer, she began taking education courses and found that she had a natural talent for teaching. She pursued an education with Youngstown State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1963. She later continued her studies with the University of North Florida, earning a Master of Education in 1989. She has been certified as a principal in the state of Florida.

A respected voice in her areas of interest, Ms. Boccieri has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. The past member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, she was a member of the American Association of School Administrators, the Florida Association of School Administrators, and the National Association of Partners in Education. She has also been active with the School Community Action Team Against Drugs, the University of North Florida Alumni Association, the Clay County Administrators Association, Phi Delta Kappa, and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Throughout her career, Ms. Boccieri has been recognized for her contributions, including having been First Runner Up for Florida Principal of the Year. The recipient of the 8th Point of Light from President George H.W. Bush, she was additionally named the Florida Master Teacher by the Florida Department of Education, the Teacher of the Year by Green Cove Springs Elementary School, and the FAEDS/FACE Runner Up for Instructional Computing Teacher of the Year. Ms. Boccieri has been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
