Yvonne A. Johnson, Elementary School Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication achievements, and leadership in elementary education.

Ms. Johnson did not know what she wanted to do with her life after graduating from Northern Illinois State Teachers College in 1951. However, with a Bachelor of Arts in education, the next logical step for her was to apply to teachings jobs. Her mother suggested applying to the nearest Love Rural School which she did. Since then, Ms. Johnson has built up an esteemed reputation in the world of education as a result of her professional success.

After teaching at Love Rural School in DeKalb, Illinois from 1951 to 1953. Ms. Johnson relocated to West Sycamore Elementary School in Sycamore. Illinois. She went on to receive a master’s degree in education from Northern Illinois University in 1960 and remained teaching elementary students until 2002. Ms. Johnson has additionally an active participant in her community. She acted on the board of directors for the Sycamore Public Library from 1978 to 1998. Serving as the president of the board from 1984 to 1998 is the experience that Ms. Johnson regards to be the highlight of her career. Her success in the role of chairman on the fund drive for an addition to the library paid off when the building recently went on sale for $3 million. Ms. Johnson tater spent some time working as the coordinator for the Media Center West School. She is additionally a member of the National Education Association, the Illinois Education Association, and the Council for Elementary Science International among several other professional organizations.

In recognition of her accomplishments. Ms. Johnson has received a multitude of awards. To name a few, in 1984, she was named as the Governor’s Master Teacher from the state of Illinois. Later, in 1993, she was presented with the Outstanding Agricultural Teacher in the Classroom award from the Dekalb County Farm Bureau, Most recently, she was the recipient of the Clifford Danielson Outstanding Sycamore Citizen award in 2006 and given an honorary PhD from the Sycamore Community Unit School District in 2008. She has also been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who of American Women.
