Martha Lepow, MD, Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics and Director of Pediatric Infectious Disease at Albany Medical College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Medicine.
With more than 60 years of professional experience, Dr. Lepow has served as the director of the pediatric HIV program at Albany Medical Center Hospital from 2006 to 2012, and as the head of pediatric infectious diseases since 1979. In addition to her primary roles, she held a number of positions with Albany Medical College, including attending chair of pediatrics from 1994 to 1997, vice chair of pediatrics from 1981 to 1994, director of the clinical studies center from 1979 to 1987, and she has served as a professor of pediatrics since 1978 and attending physicians since 1979. Earlier in her career, she was an associate professor and professor of pediatrics at the University of Connecticut from 1967 to 1978 and an assistant professor with Case Western Reserve University from 1958 to 1967.
Dr. Lepow first pursued an education with Oberlin College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1948. She then joined Case Western Reserve University, earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1952. She continued her studies with the school, serving as an intern and resident in pediatrics from 1952 to 1956 and as a fellow from 1958 to 1967. She also holds an honorary Doctor of Science from Oberlin College.
