Victoria Beard, Director of Forensics and Fine Arts Chair at Spring Woods High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in educational administration and English, speech and drama education.

In preparation for her career, Ms. Beard attended Houston Baptist University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in speech and theatre in 1980. She continued her academic pursuits at the University of Houston, graduating with a Master of Arts in theatre in 1982, and launched her career as an acting teacher at the School for Theater Arts. She simultaneously worked as an English, speech and drama teacher at Paul Revere Middle School in the Houston Independent School District. From 1984 to 1985, Ms. Beard worked as a speech and drama teacher at the Landrum Junior High School and then accepted a position at Northbrook High School, where she remained for 20 years. In 2005, she transitioned to Spring Woods High School, where she continued to serve as the director of forensics and the fine arts chair.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Ms. Beard has maintained affiliation with the Texas Speech and Communication Association, the Texas Forensic Association and the National Speech and Debate Association. She has been recognized with numerous awards and recognitions, including the Stars in the Classroom Award from the Houston Texans and First Community Credit Union in 2012, the Diamond Key Award from the National Forensic League in 2011, and the Jim Moore Memorial Award from Spring Woods High School for the 2011-2012 school year. In 2001, Ms. Beard additionally received a Teacher of the Year award from Northbrook High School and was honored as one of four finalists in the annual Spring Branch Independent School District Teacher of the Year program and competition. In the coming years, she plans to be approaching her retirement from public education, and hopes to become involved in the private education industry.
