Bette Carpenter, Business Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
With decades of professional experience to her credit, Ms. Carpenter has built a prolific career as a business educator at multiple institutions. In preparation for her career, she attended West Texas A&M University, graduating with a BBA in 1963, and later continued her academic pursuits at the institution, earning an MBE in 1984. A lifelong learner, she completed additional doctoral coursework at the Texas Technical University in Lubbock, Texas.
Possessing an innate passion for working with students, Ms. Carpenter began her career as a teacher for the Texas Panhandle Indiana School District. In 1974, she accepted a position as the secretary of the City of Amarillo, and until 1976, she additionally worked as an instructor at Amarillo College. Later in her career, Ms. Carpenter served as an instructor at her alma mater, West Texas A&M University, where she worked from 1982 to 1986, and continued to leverage her experience as an instructor at Wayland Baptist University from 1984 to 1987. As a certified teacher in the state of Texas, she transitioned to the Canyon Indiana School District, where she contributed as a teacher until 1990, and returned to her prior position at the West Texas A&M University. Ms. Carpenter continued to work as an instructor at the institution for more than a decade, until 2003.
In conjunction with her primary professional pursuits, Ms. Carpenter has contributed to her field through her written work, drafting curriculum and textbook materials for the Texas Education Agency and working as a presenter in Houston, Irving, Dallas and Austin. She co-authored “Business Computer Applications” in 1989, “Business Computer Programming” in 1989, “Microcomputer Applications” in 1990 and “Business Computer Applications with Integration of Learning Styles” in 1994. She has also maintained affiliation with numerous professional organizations, including the Texas Computer Educator Association, the Texas Faculty Association, Phi Gamma Nu and Pi Omega Pi, among others.
Ms. Carpenter has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including being inducted into the Texas Business Education Association’s Texas Hall of Fame. She was additionally named a Best Professor by the West Texas A&M University’s professional business fraternity. As a further testament to her success, experience and stature, she has been selected for inclusion in the 55th and 57th editions of Who’s Who in America, the 25th edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest as well as multiple editions of Who’s Who in American Education.
