Gaye Ranck Jenkins, Adult Educator, Academic Specialist and Sociology Professor, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
Ms. Jenkins became involved in her profession because she was interested in women’s issues and had worked in a variety of other areas. She was motivated in her work by Arlene Shaheen, who encouraged her pursue the link of work of her interest. Ms. Jenkins first earned an AAS from the Pennsylvania College of Technology in 1996 and continued at the institute to receive a BHS in 1997. She later earned an MEd in adult education at Pennsylvania State University in 2001. In her current line of work, Ms. Jenkins serves as an academic specialist at the CSIU WATCH Project. This work combines her years of experience working with such institutions as the Sullivan County Victim Services, the Pennsylvania State Continuing Education program, the Women’s Resource Center of Williamsport, the Hemlock Girl Scout Council and YWCA. Furthermore, Ms. Jenkins has served as a liaison between academy, community and business partners and in various programs, such as the adult education program, at Pennsylvania State University.
Ms. Jenkins considers the highlight of her career to be the award she received from Pennsylvania State College, which was a recommendation from students. Caught completely off guard by this accolade, it meant so much to her that it was as surprise. It also made her confident that her work towards helping others was being felt. Ms. Jenkin’s became interest in education and sociology after first coming upon the YWCA website and learning about the WISE program, which is a community service advocating for women of low income. Ms. Jenkins has maintained affiliation with a variety of organizations, including the Pennsylvania National Organization of Women, the American Association of University Women, the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education, the Pennsylvania Association for Adult and Continuing Education, Pi Lambda Theta and Phi Delta Kappa.
