He began his career as a doctor at the National Autonomous University in Mexico City, Mexico, in 1985. Between 1985 and 1990, he found success as a resident and chief resident in medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, a fellow in therapeutic endoscopy at Wellesley Hospital, and a research fellow in gastroenterology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. In the years afterward, Dr. Raijman served the university’s health center in the multiple positions of a clinical fellow, an assistant professor of medicine, the director of therapeutic endoscopy, an assistant professor at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and as the director of the annual therapeutic endoscopy course.
Currently, Dr. Raijman works as the director of therapeutic endoscopy for the University of Texas and as an associate professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Additionally, he is an associate professor at both the Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Houston. He is also certified under the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Gastroenterology. Dr. Raijman became involved in medicine through his upbringing and attended the National Autonomous University in Mexico City, where he earned an MD in 1985. He has completed additional coursework at the University of Wisconsin, as well as at the University of Texas.
Notably, Dr. Raijman is the author of the books “Pancreas,” and “Bockus Textbook of Gastroenterology,” and has written numerous articles and reviews for professional publications. He has been named one of the Best Doctors in Houston and one of the Best Doctors in America. Dr. Raijman remains current on-field developments through his affiliation with the American Gastroenterology Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the International Association of Pancreatology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Society of Internal Medicine.
