Rose Rudy, Library Administrator and Counselor, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the fields of librarianship and education.
Ms. Rudy started her higher education at Bloomfield College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and pre-law, magna cum laude, in 1965. She started working as the acting children’s librarian for Newark Public Library and went on to study at Rutgers University, where she earned a Master of Library and Information Science in 1967. Ms. Rudy acted as the head of children’s services at Belleville Public Library until 1968, and started as assistant director of the Kearny Public Library and a member of the adjunct faculty at Kean College, where she remained until 1973. Transitioning to a position with Jersey City Public Library, she worked as the supervisor of children’s services, where she remained for more than a decade, during which time she rose to the rank of assistant director. From 1990 to 1991, and in 2000, she acted as the librarian director of the Jersey City Public Library.
Continuing her education, Ms. Rudy earned a JD from Seton Hall University in 1989, and a Master of Arts in counseling from Montclair State University in 1992. She is a certified teacher in the state of New Jersey and a certified professional school librarian. In addition, she built several library branches in Jersey City and Matewan, and revitalized the Hudson County Library system. Ms. Rudy taught at Rutgers University, works as a counselor at her church, and has written children’s short stories. She is a member of the American Library Association, New Jersey Library Association, American Bar Association, Hudson County Library Directors Association, and Exxex-Hudson Region Executive Board.
