Rebecca Byrd, Contractor at the United States Department of Defense, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in network and systems engineering.
Ms. Byrd studied at Augusta Technical College and earned an Associate of Applied Science in 2003. While completing her studies, she worked as a lab assistant at the network department for the college, and before that, she worked as a network support specialist and senior webmaster for the Arizona Department of Education. From 2003 to 2014, Ms. Byrd worked as a computer information system instructor at her alma mater, Augusta Technical College, while also working as a full-time information technology and security professional. From 2008 to 2011, she was contracted by the Department of Defense to work as an instructor and currently continues to serve as an Information Assurance Network Officer for the Cyber Center of Excellence.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Ms. Byrd holds multiple certifications in her field. Since 2015, she has been a Certified Ethical Hacker, in 1999, she became a Prometric Microsoft Certified System Engineer, and since 2003, she has held a Security+ Certification, among many other certifications. Ms. Byrd created a solution to upgrade the traffic light system for Augusta Richmond County in 2004, even though the manufacturer said it couldn’t be done. She is a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association International, and in the next five years, she plans to perform digital forensics for corporations and law enforcement offices. As a testament to her success and stature, Ms. Byrd has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who of American Women and Who’s Who in America.
