Dr. Fouse is a certified elementary teacher, a special education teacher, and a certified educational diagnostician school counselor who began her education at the University of Texas, Austin, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1967. She progressed to the Texas Woman’s University and graduated with a Master of Education in 1973 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1976. Dr. Fouse completed postgraduate coursework in Texas from 1980 to 1981 and from 1985 to 1989. Greatly influenced by her dad, Wilfred Davis, who instilled values of integrity and hard work in her growing up, she began a long career in teaching as a first-grade teacher in the Austin Independent School District from 1967 to 1968.
In the years leading to her current position as the president of Ark-La-Tex Shredding Co., Inc., Dr. Fouse worked in many positions as a third-grade teacher, a homebound teacher, a teacher for the emotionally disturbed, a special education director, and a university instructor. Additionally, she served as an assistant professor, an educational consultant, and an associate professor before retiring from education in 1999. Dr. Fouse is the author of “Creating a Win-WinIEP for Students with Autism,” and the co-author for “Assessment Manual for Appraisal Personnel,” “Guidelines for Speech Pathologists,” “Accreditation for Special Educators,” “A Primer About Attention Deficit Disorder,” and “A Treasure Chest of Behavioral Strategies for Individuals with Autism.” The winner of the Small Business Person of the Year title, Dr. Fouse is a member of the Autism Society of America, the Texas Council for Exceptional Children, the Texas Council of Administrators in Special Education, and the Association for Children with Learning Disabilities. As a testament to her success, she has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who in America.
