Anthony Pridgeon, Adjunct Professor of Physical Geography at Canisius College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the fields of physical geography and science education.

Dr. Pridgeon graduated from Canisius College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He started working as a secondary school science teacher and earned a Master of Science Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) in 1971. In 1970, he began his service as a reserve officer in the United States Army, and received an honorable discharge as well as an Army Commendation Medal, in 1983. In 1982, while finishing his military service, Dr. Pridgeon earned a PhD from UB, and in 1980, he began as an adjunct professor in the SUNY system. In 1987, he became an adjunct professor at his undergraduate alma mater, Canisius College, where he remained until 1989, and in 2003, he left his position as a public school science teacher and returned to Canisius College as an adjunct professor of physical geography.

In addition to his professional endeavors as an educator, Dr. Pridgeon has contributed multiple articles to professional educational journals, and he is a member of the Science Teachers Association of New York State. He has always had a passion for the sciences, with a special affinity for biology, and he cites a colleague, Dr. Vincent Stouter, as a mentor who had a great impact on his career. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s he served on the Western New York Science Congress Committee in various capacities including secretary, treasurer, and charirman. Dr. Pridgeon is an active member of several Catholic ministries in his church, is vice chairman of the Parish Council, and is a piper in the Gordon Highlanders bagpipe band, where he has received multiple awards, including Member of the Year, as well as a Meritorious Service Award. As a testament to his success and stature as an educator, Dr. Pridgeon has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America.
