Kenneth Pivarnick, Program Director at Western Technical College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the fields of computer science and cyber security.
As a student, Mr. Pivarnick studied at Western Technical College, where he earned an AOS in microcomputer technology and ASS in information systems and security, both in 2013. He boasts many professional certifications, including being a Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Linux Network Professional, a CompTIA Secure Infrastructure Specialist, a Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator, and a Certified Linux Administrator-CLA11, among others. In 1984, Mr. Pivarnick began serving in the United States Coast Guard, where he served as an electronics technician in Nevada and Hawaii, an instructor in the Coast Guard Training Center in California, and an electronics shop supervisor in Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 2003 and started working as a computer help desk lead for Computer Sciences Corporation in El Paso, Texas in 2005.
Mr. Pivarnick took a position as an electronics technician for the Drug Enforcement Administration in 2007, where he worked until 2013 when he graduated from Western Technical College and started working as an instructor. In 2014, he rose to the rank of program director, which he holds to this day, and in the coming years, he hopes to become the information technology director and plans to complete his coursework for both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. Mr. Pivarnick originally planned to study oceanography, but during his service with the United States Coast Guard, he discovered an interest in electronics and computers and redirected his career path. He has been recognized nationally and internationally for his work as an instructor, and he is a member of CompTIA, as well as the International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants.
