Gloria Everhart, Music Educator at Everhart Piano Studio, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.
Ms. Everhart has always loved music and decided to make her passion her profession. Her music training official began when she was eight years old and by the time she was 12, she was singing in community church choirs, at weddings, and teaching other students how to play the piano. In 1960, she established Everhart Piano Studio in Columbia, Maryland, where she continues to teach piano, voice, and music theory. She honed her skills at the Peabody Conservatory of Music where she earned a Bachelor of Music in 1967 and later expanded her knowledge by completing coursework at Towson State University and the University of Illinois.
Following her college graduation, Ms. Everhart was a vocal music teacher for Howard County Public Schools from 1967 to 1974 and later taught as a high school vocal music teacher with the school from 1984 to 1986. She has also served as the music director for the Bethany Lane Baptist Church in Ellicott City, Maryland, from 1968 to 1975 and later as the music minister from 1997 to 2002. Ms. Everhart taught as a long-term substitute music teacher for Glenelg Country School in 2002 and appreciates that others have told her how much music her music brought them joy and peace.
In addition to her primary pursuits, Ms. Everhart has worked as a secretary and treasurer for the board of directors for Everhart Animal Hospital Inc. from 1975 to 1991 and has been a music director at The Alleluias Inc. in Columbia, Maryland, from 1987 to 2005. She has given her time to the Christian Choir of Howard County as an accompanist from 2007 to 2013 and has been the choir director for choral performances since 2013. Due to her outstanding leadership in choral directing, she is an associate with the American Choral Directors Association and plans on continuing her musical endeavors. As a further testament to her success, Ms. Everhart has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women.
