With more than 15 years of professional experience, Ms. Del Conte was a learning disabilities and ED teacher with Fairfax County Public Schools from 1998 to 2006. Prior to obtaining this role, she was a case manager with Jewish Social Services from 1995 to 1997 and with the State of Maryland/Great Oaks MR Center from 1994 to 1995. Earlier in her career, she was a case manager with Brice Warren Corporation from 1992 to 1994 and with We Care, Inc., from 1991 to 1992.
Ms. Del Conte first pursued an education with Genesee Community College, where she obtained an Associate of Arts in human services in 1981. She then joined State University of New York-Brockport, completing a Bachelor of Social Work in 1983. She continued her studies with the school, receiving a Master of Public Administration in geriatrics in 1986. She later earned a Master of Special Education from George Mason University in 2000.
Ms. Del Conte was inspired to pursue a career in the field from an early age, having grown up in a poor area and being bused into an urban school. Since she was from a rural area, her own learning disabilities wen undiagnosed, and she struggled with school. She persevered and became the first member of her family to complete an education, and she has since focused her career on helping others with similar issues. She credits much of her success to her willingness to learn, her desire to help others, and her tenacity and perseverance.
