William Auvenshine, Former President of Clarendon College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.
With more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Auvenshine was the president of Clarendon College from 2008 to 2012. Prior to obtaining this role, he was interim president of Galveston College from 2007 to 2008, president of Hill College from 1984 to 2004, and dean of Ranger Junior College from 1972 to 1984. From 1970 to 1972, he was a counselor with Loveland Public Schools, and from 1964 to 1970, he was the manager and part owner of Megert Music Company. Earlier in his career, he was a music teacher at Ranger Public Schools from 1960 to 1964 and at Chico Public Schools from 1957 to 1960.
Dr. Auvenshine first pursued an education with Arlington State Junior College, where he obtained an Associate of Arts in 1957. He then joined Texas Christian University, completing a Bachelor of Science in 1959. He subsequently received a Master of Science at the institution in 1967. He later continued his studies with the University of Northern Colorado, earning a Doctor of Education in 1973. Throughout his career, Dr. Auvenshine has been recognized for his contributions. The recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from West Texas State University, he was named Man of the Year by the Ranger Chamber of Commerce and Citizen of the Year by Clarendon, TX. Hillsboro, TX, named him to their Hall of Fame, and he was a Conference Lay Leader of the Central Texas Conference of the Methodist Church.
