Title: Student Development Program Advisor
Company: Valencia College
Location: Davenport, Florida, United States
Daniel Salas, Student Development Program Advisor at Valencia College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of health and wellness.
From a young age, Mr. Salas was interested in medicine and working to help other people. Growing up in the Dominican Republic, he was focused on getting good grades, so that when his parents sent him to the United States for his higher education, he could make the most of it and pursue medical school. After his grandfather passed away due to an aneurysm, Mr. Salas became even more determined to promote health and wellness through exercise and healthy habits, to prevent more people from dealing with the same issues. Later, when his ailing grandmother’s life was greatly improved by her physical therapist, Mr. Salas discovered his passion, and became determined to pursue a career in the industry.
Since earning an Associate of Arts from Valencia College, and a Bachelor of Science in biomedical sciences from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 2016, Mr. Salas has worked as a student development program advisor for Valencia College. At UCF, he was a Johnson Scholar, and he has also been a longtime volunteer at Florida hospital, giving over 300 hours of his time. He plans to finish physical therapy school and continue pursuing a career in the industry. In his academic career, Mr. Salas had to work hard and make sacrifices in order to succeed, and he credits his parents as his mentors and supporters. With their encouragement, and the inspiration he gained from his grandparents, Mr. Salas has already established himself as a developing leader in his field, and will doubtless continue to make his mark on the health and wellness industry in the future.
