Carol Black, Retired Elementary School Educator and Principal, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of education and educational administration.
Ms. Black studied at Southern Oregon State College, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1972. She went on to study at U. S. International University, earning a Master of Arts in 1987. She started her career as an educator in 1965, working as a principal and teacher at Applegate Oregon Kindergarten. In 1972, she became a teacher for Rogue River Oregon, and in 1973 she started as a teacher and program manager at Visalia California Unified School District, where she worked for more than a decade. Ms. Black then began her decade-long career at Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District in 1985, starting as a teacher and program manager, and in 1990, she acted as a summer school principal. The following year, she acted as an assistant principal, and for the next five years, she served as an elementary principal, until her retirement in 1996.
During her career as an educator, Ms. Black served as a presenter for the Compensatory Education Conference for the California Department of Education in 1989. She is a member of the National Education Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the Association of California School Administrators. She wrote her master’s thesis on one-on-one child development, and she carried that dedication to each student into her career as a teacher and principal. Ms. Black has lived her life to help others and received the Golden Bell award for student support from the California School Boards Foundation in 1995. Since her retirement, she has published her novel, “Never Ask Permission,” in 2006, and was a featured artist in a show from the Bakersfield Art Association in 2017. As a testament to her dedication, excellence, and experience as an educator and administrator, Ms. Black was featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in American Education.
