James Alphonso Paschal, Secondary School Educator, Counseling Administrator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of counseling and education.
Dedicated to helping others, Dr. Paschal has spent his career focused on how to make a positive difference in his students’ lives. He has worked as an elementary educator, a school social worker, director of student affairs, and a school counselor at various locations including, but not limited to, Augusta Tech, the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education, and Albany State University. Additionally, Dr. Paschal has been the owner of the Family Counseling Center, where he did pro bono work from 2005 to 2015. In order to prepare for his career, Dr. Paschal earned a Bachelor of Arts from Xavier University in New Orleans in 1957, a Master of Science from Fort Valley State College in 1963, a Doctor of Education from the University of South Carolina in 1977, and is a certified administrator, teacher counselor, and social worker, in the state of Georgia.
Dr. Paschal is concerned with helping others and giving back to his community, which is why he has dedicated professional and personal life to service. He has also served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army from September 27, 1951, to June 26, 1953, in Korea and received a Bronzed Service Medal for his service. Years later, Dr. Paschal rushed to Ground Zero during 9/11 and aided the Red Cross in helping others. As a testament to his success, Dr. Paschal has been affiliated with the National Education Association, the American Counseling Association, the Georgia Counseling Association, Alpha Phi Alpha, Kiwanis International, and is currently a member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta South Metro Atlanta Chapter and Optimist International. He has been lauded with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Education as well as the 25th edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
