Dianne Armstrong, Retired Language Educator at Columbus State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.
For more than 40 years, Dr. Armstrong excelled as an educator with a number of notable institutions. Prior to the start of her career, she attended the University of Illinois, Champaign Urbana, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1957. Consequently, she began teaching at Martin Luther School in New York City, from 1972 to 1978, before accepting the position of an English instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles, between 1984 and 1987. During that time, she also received a Master of Arts from St. Johns University in Jamaica, New York. Soon thereafter, she became a lecturer for the freshman writing program with the University of Southern California, Los Angeles for five years, while securing a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Southern California in 1992.
As she continued to advance in her career, Dr. Armstrong taught English at Santa Barbara City College for three years, further joining Ventura College as an English professor between 1996 and 2009. Moreover, she worked as an adjunct professor of English at Columbus State University from 2010 until her retirement in 2014. Civically, she has volunteered with the Faulding Hotel Ministry in Santa Barbara between 1999 and 2001. Utilizing her expertise, Dr. Armstrong has also contributed articles to professional journals and the Encyclopedia. As a testament to her career, she has been the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been featured in editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women. Additionally, she has been honored as Lecturer of the Year by the USC Writing Program and Instructor of the Year by Ventura College.
