Amy Barnet Sowers, speech-language pathologist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in speech and language pathology.
A certified speech-language pathologist in the state of Texas, Ms. Sowers has dedicated the last four decades of her career to assessing, diagnosing and treating communication and swallowing disorders in children and adults. She spent more than 20 years in private practice after establishing herself as an expert in her field throughout the state of Texas. Previously, Ms. Sowers found success as a lead therapist for the Montgomery Independent School District, speech-language pathologist for Tomball Independent School District, speech-language pathologist for the Conroe Independent School District, and speech-language pathologist for the Aldine Independent School District. Further, she has participated in initiatives within her professional community including the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association, the Texas Speech and Hearing Association, the Houston Association of Communications Disorders, the Texas Educators Association and the National Education Association. Ms. Sowers’ success is supported by her education, which includes a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from the University of Houston.
Outside of her professional work, Ms. Sowers is active in her local community. Currently, she acts as the executive director of the Bravo Company Performing Arts School, which she founded in 2009. Previously, she was involved with the City of Conroe Commission on Arts & Culture, the Crieghton Theatre Foundation, the Performing Arts School for the Youth and the Creighton Players. She also holds memberships with the Montgomery County Performing Arts Center. In recognition of her civic work, Ms. Sowers was the recipient of a Pursuit of Excellence Award from the Creighton Theatre Foundation. As she looks ahead to the future, Ms. Sowers intends to continue in her work as a speech-language pathologist while seeking new projects in her local theatre.
